By now you’ve probably heard or seen the latest in fashion accessories – fingerprint jewelry. What started out as a simple idea is gaining ground in nearly every facet of the jewelry industry… and we love it! It’s highly personal and extremely unique. You’ve heard the expression, “no two fingerprints are the same”.
There is one jeweler who has taken this trend to new heights with their customized fingerprint engagement rings. An innovative company, Dimples, located in Ontario, Canada, have come up with a simple, but luxurious, way to show off the dazzling new solitaire diamond by embedding their client’s fingerprint around the outside of the band. The result is highly unique and stunning.
Off-the-Shelf or Create Your Own
Fingerprint engagement rings are always one-of-a-kind because they are created with the fingerprints of you and/or your fiance. A common phrase at Dimples is that “love will be forever imprinted upon your heart and your ring”… a sentiment for every engaged couple. It’s much simpler than it may sound at first.
Here’s how it works:You or your loved one are sent an ink printing kit which provides the jeweler an accurate fingerprint. It can be photographed or scanned and sent in digitally or it can also be sent via regular mail. Once it is received, decisions on preferred precious metals, bandwidth, and stone will be made. If the selections are made from the catalog of existing rings, then the ring’s production will be made to your specifications.
If a custom style and setting is desired, then it is important to have a longer, more detailed consultation. Sending photos of some of your favorite styles or trying your hand at sketching your vision will be a great place to start. Your jeweler will take all of your thoughts and preferences and put them together in their own preliminary sketches. After additional decisions have been made, such as precious metal and gemstone choices, additional sketches may be required. Production will never begin without an authorized approval by YOU!
It is a very exciting process and can be almost as affordable as the off-the-shelf styles.
You won’t find fingerprint engagement rings just anywhere.Do your homework and make sure to work with a jeweler that specializes in the fingerprint technique. This is such an important time in everyone’s life – after all, this ring is the beginning of your new future.
According to Dimples co-owner and fingerprint jewelry specialist, Patti Moloney, “Our mission is to help people capture life’s fleeting moments. Life is remarkable. We want to help people cherish their memories forever and an engagement is one of the most important milestones in a couple’s life together.”
