Strut Down the Runway at Seattle’s African Fashion Week

March 24, 2020

For countless years, fashion has helped people define who they are and where they come from. Fashion can be the best way to fit into a particular crowd or even stand out from it. Not only does it impact your self-image, but it also influences the impression that you create on other people and the way they behave towards you.

Whether you think about it or not, fashion is a significant part of your life. You see it wherever you go. You are bound to be influenced by it, even if you don’t consider yourself particularly fashionable.

Although fashion arguably started as a means of protecting oneself from the harsh weather, it has found a way to create an impact on everyone’s life.

Some regions of the world are more influential than others. For example, you may have seen African women wear unique clothing and head wraps. These garments were a means of distinction that people adopted to express pride toward their country. However, a lot of prominent designers across the world have started to incorporate these ideas into their designs.

Colorful and vibrant, African-inspired designs have started influencing the international fashion scene in more ways than you think. Many people now number among the ranks of African fashion fans.

Come See the Best of African Fashion

Does African fashion catch your eye or are the bright patterns displayed on your everyday wear? If so, you should check out the second annual African Fashion Week Seattle, the largest African Fashion Event in the state of Washington.

Hosted in Sheraton Hotel in Bellevue, Washington, on May 16, this event will have a variety of colorful and vibrant African-inspired designs on display by local as well as out-of-state designers. The fashion show will start at 6:00 p.m. and go on until 10:00 p.m.

The first-row ticket costs $100, and they include food and a free drink. The second- and the third-row tickets are priced at $60 and include a free drink. Beyond the third row, you may pay $40 for a ticket without a drink. If you are fine watching the fashion show standing, you can get a standing room ticket for only $30.

There is a charity aspect to this event called Fashion for Humanity. The ticket proceeds will be used to provide education to the children of South Senegal.

Last year’s event helped to send 26 children to school with all their uniforms and school fees paid for. This year could be your chance to contribute toward making our world a better place to live.
