In Hollywood, image is everything, and many celebrities have admitted to a few nips and tucks to retain their famous visages. But some celebrities have more money than common sense and have taken plastic surgery to the extreme. The following is a list of a few stars that maybe should have gotten a second opinion before going under the knife.
Lindsay Lohan
When Disney introduced us to a young and innocent Lindsay Lohan, we all fell in love. How darling was this be-freckled redhead?! Fast forward a few years, multiple DUI’s, and a weird pseudo-lesbian relationship later, and the angelic clever girl from The Parent Trap is completely unrecognizable. Perhaps her aged and haggard appearance is the result of her less-than healthy lifestyle. But, some argue that this mean girl has been surgically tampering with her looks. We thought the idea of plastic surgery was to recapture your youth, not prematurely age yourself 10+ years.
Pamela Anderson
Every guy wanted her and every girl wanted to be her. Skipping across the sand in that iconic red swimsuit, Pam was the epitome of sex appeal. With such a rocking bod, you’d think a girl would be content with the physique that had gotten her so much attention. Au contraire. Pam decides her curves need to be even curvier. She opts for implants that leave her with ridiculously gigantic and ugly breasts. Realizing that bigger isn’t always better, she goes under the knife again for a reduction. But wait! Now they’re too small! Better go bigger again! After flip flopping in and out of the operating room, Pam claims she is completely done with plastic surgery. Now, if she could only apply the same vigor in ending her farcical relationships with notorious bad boys and dirt bags.
Carrot Top
Remember when Carrot Top used to be funny? We don’t either. But we do remember when he looked like an evil clown. Oh, wait. He still does. Those lifted eyebrows aren’t so much tickling our funny bones as they are reminiscent of Tim Curry’s demonic character in It. Carrot Top neither confirms nor denies having work done while we can neither confirm nor deny that we’ll now have nightmares of Pennywise the clown.
Joan Rivers
Just as the writers of Fashion Police went on strike this summer, so should humanity against Joan Rivers’ rumored 739 cosmetic surgery procedures. Rivers has been very outspoken about her numerous surgeries as evidenced by her book Men Are Stupid…and They Like Big size in which she irreverently discusses the details of plastic surgery from cost to complications. Rivers proudly confirms that she has undergone nearly all of the procedures described in her book, stating she’d rather look young and happy rather than old and depressed. But let’s face the facts: everyone ages and sooner or later Rivers, nearly 80 years old, is going to have to throw in the towel. Just let nature take its course. Besides, there’s nothing natural looking about those horrifically tight face lifts and creepy jaw implants, anyways.
Jocelyne Wildenstein
This American socialite brings whole new meaning to the term “crazy cat lady.” Her addiction to plastic surgery began back in the 1970’s at the end of her marriage to her billionaire husband. Nearly 4 million dollars later, Wildenstein admits undergoing costly procedures wasn’t so much motivated by the hope of recapturing the eye of her estranged husband as it was inspired by her love of exotic wild cats. We love animals as much as the next PETA member but we simply keep them as pets not as spouses.
Pete Burns
Apparently this guy is famous for something other than his extreme plastic surgery. This Dead or Alive singer has our heads spinning right round with his very obvious addiction to fillers and injections. Regarding his extensive cosmetic procedures, Burns says, “People redecorate their homes every few years and I see this as no different. Changing my face is like buying a new sofa.” On our next visit to Ikea, we’ll be sure to pick up a nose job along with our Swedish meatballs and duvet cover.
Let these celebrity plastic surgery disasters be a lesson. If you’re contemplating any cosmetic procedures, it’s definitely your prerogative. In fact, we can think of a few areas we’d like tightened and lifted, and a qualified doctor can definitely hook us all up. But remember, you’ve got to draw the line somewhere—unless, of course, you feel like making our next list of plastic surgery flops.
