You’ve been working out, eating right – now it’s time to show off the results of your hard work. Here are 5 ways to make the most of the new and improved you.
Take the opportunity for a wardrobe upgrade. Depending on how much your body has changed, you may find that the majority of your wardrobe does not fit as well as it used to. Don’t keep schlepping around in baggy clothes, and don’t bemoan the fact that you need to go clothing shopping. Your newly changed body is the perfect opportunity to upgrade your closet.
Set a budget and determine your fashion wardrobe purchases from there. If you’re on a more limited budget, purchase a few necessary wardrobe staples to get you started, like good quality jeans, new t-shirts, new collared shirts and at least one blazer. When purchasing more expensive items of clothing, like suits, make sure to get them tailored – a little tailoring can go a long way in looking polished and professional. Not only will new items of clothing showcase your new body, they’ll truly make you feel like a brand new man.
Get a little color – and a little Vitamin D. Most of us know that we look a little better with some color in our cheeks, but even scientists have been more recently advocating getting some sun for a whole other reason: Vitamin D. Vitamin D has been a buzzword around scientific and health circles over the past few years due to its variety of health benefits and the fact that many people surprisingly do not get enough of their recommended daily intake.
The benefits of Vitamin D are numerous: it can help maintain a healthy body weight, it regulates the immune system and it plays a key role in absorbing and metabolizing calcium and phosphorous. There are long term effects and preventative benefits that are still being discovered, including the fact that it may reduce the risk of getting multiple sclerosis and can help you stay mentally agile later in life.
While Vitamin D supplements are readily available everywhere, just a few minutes in the sun several times a week will give you a good dose of Vitamin D – and a bit of healthy color.
Accessorize. Men’s jewelry and accessories have never been bigger, and they can be a great way to spice up your wardrobe while your body is still transitioning to a new shape. Some of the most popular accessories include men’s bracelet and pendants, both of which are available in a number of styles and material options. Many active guys particularly like sporting the popular silicone men’s bracelets for certain causes, which are largely sweat-proof and do a good deed while adding a little splash of color to your outfit.
Treat yourself. Now that you’ve changed to a healthier lifestyle, your definition of treat has probably changed – or at least it should. Rather than rewarding yourself with unhealthy food, think about how you can make your body feel better in other ways. Spa days aren’t just for women; let yourself relax in a wet sauna or get a therapeutic or sports massage to relax your hardworking muscles. You can even give yourself a spa break at home – just fill up the tub with hot water, Epson salts and a hint of bath gel and let yourself soak and unwind.
Keep it up. It’s natural to sometimes hit plateaus or occasionally backpedal after you’ve transitioned to a healthier lifestyle. To keep yourself healthy, active and inspired you’ll also need to keep yourself entertained and engaged. A great way to do this is to find outdoor activities that you enjoy, whether they’re invigorating group sports or a solo activity that helps you clear your mind. A sense of competition can be a wonderful thing with keeping you active and discovering how much further you can be pushed. To stay active in the long run, truly enjoying the physical activities that you’re doing is a must.
