As they say— age ain’t nothing but a number. The truth is that there are people entering retirement age that look younger than people who haven’t even reached 40 yet. It’s all about a state of mind and following the right habits. There may be things that are making you look older than your real age. If you look in the mirror and feel older than your actual number, then here may be some of the culprits to blame.
You Don’t Wear Sunblock
If you’re still baking in the sun with baby oil and no sunblock, then you’re asking yourself for trouble. You must protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun if you hope to preserve your youthful appearance. You can make yourself look as much as double your age by failing to protect yourself adequately from the sun.
You Haven’t Updated Your Wardrobe in a Decade
Although old is often new again when it comes to fashion, and retro looks are all the rage, sometimes what you think is “retro” is just plain outdated. If you haven’t updated your closet in over a decade, then you’re not doing yourself any favors. As your body and age change, so should your fashion style. Your fashion style should evolve with the times, and flatter your shape and style. If you’re not sure what the latest trends are to follow, then consider following a fashion blog, or getting a subscription to a magazine.
Lack of Sleep
We get it, you have kids, and they keep you up at odd hours of the night. However, the lack of sleep isn’t doing you any favors. The less you sleep, but bigger the bags get under your eyes, and the more susceptible you may be to illness. Try to get a few Z’s in when you can. Whether it’s when your child is napping or asking your partner to take over while you catch up on some sleep, try to prioritize rest if you hope to look your best.
Lack of Exercise
No one is expecting you to look like a body builder. However, failing to move your body enough could cause you to look much older than you actually are. When you fail to strengthen your muscles, your body will start deteriorating at a much faster rate. Rather than having the physique of someone your actual age, you may look as many as 20 years older depending on your activity level. If going to the gym isn’t your thing, don’t worry. Something as simple as going for a walk at least once a day can make a huge difference in your physique.
Not looking as young as you feel can take its toll on your sense of self-confidence! Determine whether one of these reasons may be aging you and get back to your fabulous self in no time!
