Transition into fall with your summer wardrobe

April 5, 2015

New season, new clothes! This is what we usually think when we find the cooler months approaching. However, we don’t have to break the bank to get a perfectly trendy fall look. We just need to invest in some key pieces, and combine them with summer looks for a cute and affordable way to welcome autumn.

Transition into fall with your summer wardrobe

Look 1. Dress – Topshop; Sandals – Nelly; Sunglasses – Kate Spade; Bag – Piperlime; Necklace – J Crew;

Look 2. Add: Tights – Modcloth; Cardigan – Mango; Bag – Piperlime; Scarf – Pieces;

This summer, you probably wore a sundress with high sandals, a straw bag, a pair of sunglasses and a necklace – it’s an easy and chic look that works well on anyone. Now that cooler days are coming, the only thing you need to replace is your bag – leather or faux leather is more autumn-appropriate than straw or canvas, which are usually reserved for summer. Then, pick a pair of opaque tights and a light cardigan, and accessorize with a nice scarf. You should also keep the sunglasses – you still need UV protection, even if the sun is not that bright.

Look 1. Pants – J Crew; Top – Monki; Sunglasses – Moschino; Shoes – Fab.; Bag – Oasis; Collar – Topshop; Bracelets – River Island;

Look 2. Add: Bracelet – Cheap Monday; Scarf – Bank; Blazer – River Island; Socks – J Crew; Bag – Sister P.

Did you happen to wear a pair of bright pants with a button down top, loafers and sunglasses? Perhaps you accessorized with a collar necklace, friendship bracelets and a cute tote bag? Well, just keep the first four items, and layer a bit for fall. For example, you could pick a blazer and scarf, replace the friendship bracelets with something less summery, and opt for a pair of socks to keep you warm. Exchange the canvas tote for a leather messenger, and you’re ready to go!
