Brighter Skin Tips, No Matter What Your Age

April 3, 2013

Getting a youthful and fresh-faced glow isn’t difficult if you know how. All it takes is giving your face a little tender, loving care- and knowing a few of our smart tricks. We ensure that you continue to look your best no matter what your age, working from the inside to the out.

Up the ante of your daily routine

You can use all the lotions and potions, anti-wrinkle treatments, or facial exercises in the world, but until you secure a stellar daily beauty routine, it will all be in vain.

Every day should start and finish the same way: cleanse, tone and moisturise.

It’s important to use a gentle cleanser that won’t tear or rip skin with cheap exfoliants like apricot shell, and that won’t upset your delicate pH balance. Choose something that you have to lather up with water, and pay attention to getting those more difficult places- hairline, nose, upper lip- where your age can be a giveaway.

Toners need to be alcohol free. If you choose something that is too strong for your skin you’ll dry it out, and your skin will produce too much sebum to compensate, sending your skin all out of whack.

Moisturise with something non-greasy (don’t be afraid to pay a little more for a better product) and don’t be shy about spending some time massaging your face to stimulate collagen renewal for ultimate anti-aging skin brightening.

Drink. Drink more

Water is one of the simplest ways to ensure you look as young as you feel. Skin is over 70% water, so it makes sense that you’ve got to stay hydrated to have it looking its best. Water surrounds our cells, and also helps get rid of waste and toxins, so to give it a helping hand by drinking up to ten glasses of room temperature water a day.

If you want a weight-loss/skincare combined tip, trying making your water super ice cold. The body then has to work harder to bring it up to the right temperature, burning a slew of calories in the process.

Be make-up smart

Some make-up is comedogenic, or pore blocking. This kind of make-up migrates into the face over the course of a day, and if you don’t cleanse thoroughly it beds into your skin to leave you looking dull and aged.

Make sure you are buying non-comedogenic products to give your face the best chance to show off its natural beauty.

Be smart

You know the rules: make-up off before bed, wear sunscreen everyday, limit the effects of alcohol consumption by limiting how much alcohol you consume… and yet, we’re not very good at it all, are we?

Use your head. You can spend a fortune on make-up and anti-aging treatments, or you can be a tiny bit more sensible for long-lasting results.
